Marking your class from the app

What a coach sees, how a register really gets closed, and the two things the app will not let you do.

Written for coaches, school owners and admins

The coach face shows your own slice of the school: the classes you are assigned to, plus one you are covering, which stays in reach for a week either side of the day itself. Students holds only children reachable through those classes.

Your day

  • Today's classes: today's classes, each with a ring for how many of the expected students are marked, and a Covering tag on one you are only standing in for.
  • Registers to catch up on: the last seven days of registers nobody filled in. A day drops off only when a person marks somebody who holds a seat in that class.
  • Needs attention: absence runs past the school's threshold, and medical certificates about to expire.

Marking a class

  1. Open Register and pick the day, or tap a class on Today. You can step back to repair an earlier day, where Editing a past day warns you, but never forward.
  2. Give each student one of four verdicts: present, late, absent or makeup.
  3. Read the line under the name: Waiting to sync means it is still on this phone, while Saved means the school has it.
  4. Close the register with the button that marks everyone still blank as absent, after reading the rows it is about to fill.
  5. For a child taking a make-up with you today there is Add make-up student. They appear under Make-up students for that day alone, never join the roster, and only an admin can undo one.
