Your logo, your colours, your own address

How the palette is chosen for you and when it stops listening, which surfaces the branding never reaches, and what connecting your own domain really asks of you.

Written for school owners and admins

Two separate jobs, and a school needs neither: the address already works and the pages already have a look. Upload a logo and its strongest colour is snapped to the nearest of the ten palettes on the page. A black-and-white mark has no colour to read, and lands on the default lime.

  1. Open Settings, then Branding.
  2. Under Logo press Upload logo. PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG, up to 5 MB, or 1 MB for an SVG. Nothing is kept as you sent it: the file is redrawn into a 512-pixel image and a 64-pixel tab mark.
  3. Compare the swatch at Detected color with your real brand colour. If it fits, stop: Color palette reads Following your logo and there is nothing to save.
  4. Only if it misses, click a swatch yourself. It saves the moment you click it, like the logo.
  5. The fields under Landing page text are this page's exception: they save on a button. Press Save — until you do, a bar reading You have unsaved changes follows you down the page.

Where it shows, and where it does not

The logo appears on your public pages and as their tab icon, at the top of the staff sidebar, and on the page a family opens to pay. It never appears on the sign-in screen, which keeps our own mark, and never in an email: those carry your school's name and no picture at all, and their button stays the product's lime whichever palette you chose. In the dashboard the palette only tints the faint background wash and selected text; every button and badge stays fixed. Choose it for the families outside, not for the desk.

Your own web address

  1. Open Settings, then Address & email. The address under Your address is permanent, and nothing below takes it away.
  2. Type the domain into Your domain with no https and no www, then press Add domain. A leading www is stripped before anything is stored, so www.yourschool.com connects yourschool.com.
  3. Sign in wherever the domain is managed and open its DNS screen; the page names your provider and the menu path once it can tell.
  4. Add each row exactly as shown, matching Type, Name and Value, and leave your other records alone unless one shares a name. On Cloudflare the row must be DNS-only, the grey cloud: the orange one blocks our certificate and the domain never leaves Waiting for DNS.
  5. Press Check now. DNS usually spreads in minutes but can take an hour; the button refuses more than one check every 15 seconds, and an hourly job re-checks by itself. It turns Live only when both halves pass: we can prove the domain is yours, and it really resolves to us.
